I think it'd be a cool idea to be able to transfer username changes. Say you're perfectly happy with your name, and you just got premium access and a new change. Why not allow a friend to use that change when they have a name they're not happy with?

Post 6 by Big Pawed Bear (letting his paws be his guide.) on Thursday, 07-Aug-2008 14:19:22

i suggested such a thing to do with premium memberships etc. so this is really just going over old ground already covered in another board. but yes like the idea.

Count me in as a supporter of this. I know some one who would use it too.

Post 10 by Ukulele<3 (Try me... You know you want to.) on Sunday, 10-Aug-2008 17:50:11

lol I don't know. I like the thought of making up my own user name. I guess it's just something about taking someone else's idea that doesn't appeal to me. I strive to be creative. haha

Post 11 by shea (number one pulse checking chicky) on Sunday, 10-Aug-2008 19:35:15

michelle, i think they mean just the name change you get. you will still make up your own name. ehhehe i may be wrong though.

Post 12 by maroon five (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Tuesday, 12-Aug-2008 1:12:23

yeah, i think that was what Garret was getting at. you'd still have your own name, but if you didn't have any changes left, a friend could give you one of theirs if they don't need it or want it. i think this is a good idea as well, so count me in.

Post 13 by Big Pawed Bear (letting his paws be his guide.) on Tuesday, 12-Aug-2008 5:09:14

yes, i think they are talking about the oppertunity to change a user name rather than taking someone else's user name.

Post 14 by yankee g wolverine (Account disabled) on Tuesday, 12-Aug-2008 5:43:43

yeah. why would you want someone's worn out name? I'm pretty sure nada-single one of you wants to be known as yankee, right? lol. Seriously though, Shea, Liz, animal fucker, you guys are right"

Post 15 by maroon five (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Tuesday, 12-Aug-2008 9:44:22

lol Garret, i knew i was right, and i wouldn't want to be known as yankee. you can have that one, cause, well, it's yours and it fits you. lol, and, i kno i'm probablly gonna regret this but, who's animal fucker?

Post 16 by Harp (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Tuesday, 12-Aug-2008 9:58:07

Well, I'll be the dissenting voice in the crowd then. I don't believe this to be a good idea. All it will do is encourage people to pick even more stupid and irritating usernames than they already do. So we'll end up with loads of people with long strings of numbers and characters in their names, or even worse, oh look who I'm cybering with this month! After all they know full well that after 30 days, they'll just be able to change it again if they beg enough people. Plus there's the added annoyance that you'll have to keep on checking profiles just to keep up with who somebody is. It's bad enough as it is without adding to the lunacy.

So I here by propose an alternative idea, Choose a decent username to start with, and stick with it!

Dan.

agreed dan. this bear isn't going away *smile*

Post 18 by Ukulele<3 (Try me... You know you want to.) on Tuesday, 12-Aug-2008 14:10:10

Oh haha! I thought you guys meant other people's user names. haha Shows what I get for reading through this too fast. lol I will have to disagree with this one though. Can you imagine the confusion all these changes will cause? But on the other hand, people buy their premium memberships and I suppose they should be able to do what they want with the features they get. So I do see the point of having this feature. Anyone want to give me their 2 minute audio profile time? haha

Post 19 by admin (I just keep on posting!) on Wednesday, 03-Sep-2008 21:52:02

The problem I see here is for standard members especially. Someone could create a new shill account just to gain a username change and then transfer it to someone else. Think it'd have to be premium only if at all.

Post 20 by yankee g wolverine (Account disabled) on Wednesday, 03-Sep-2008 23:42:11

I'd agree with premium only on the transfers, but you could transfer to a standard member if you like.

Post 21 by midnight sun (you can't catch me, i'm the palobread man) on Thursday, 04-Sep-2008 10:50:05

wouldn't be bad to be able to spend points on name changes too. i think someone already posted a suggestion like this somewhere.

Post 22 by yankee g wolverine (Account disabled) on Thursday, 04-Sep-2008 11:16:05

I disagree with that one because that could make way too many changes available. With the suggestion I wrote, it's using the already available pool of changes, without creating new ones.

Post 23 by maroon five (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Thursday, 04-Sep-2008 18:41:07

i don't think that it should be a points thing either. i like the arridginal idea better.

Post 24 by yankee g wolverine (Account disabled) on Sunday, 07-Sep-2008 11:15:18

thanks liz, I really like this idea a lot, and so I'm bringing it to the front again

Post 25 by maroon five (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Sunday, 07-Sep-2008 11:28:08

it's a good idea, and should be seriously thought about.

Post 26 by midnight sun (you can't catch me, i'm the palobread man) on Sunday, 07-Sep-2008 12:14:18

i really really like the idea, and so here it goes back on top of the first page

Post 27 by Striker (Consider your self warned, i'm creative and offensive like handicap porn.) on Monday, 10-Nov-2008 19:00:51

I was going to poast a topic on this but someone already did, I like the idea!

Post 28 by Rune Knight (Ancient Demon - Darkness will always conquer Light!) on Monday, 10-Nov-2008 19:38:58

Nope just stick to the original idea because if you were able to buy usernames with the points, people would be buying them relentlessly changing their names day after day. Now THAT would get very confusing.

This to I agree should be strickly for premium if it does indeed happen.
